coffee output estimate revised up to 18 mln bags ICO's Vietnam 2010 - 2011

coffee output estimate revised up to 18 mln bags ICO's Vietnam 2010 - 2011 ; The International Coffee Organisation (ICO) raised its estimate for Vietnam's 2010/11 coffee output to 18 mln 60-kg bags, up from 17.5 mln bags forecast in early December 2010.

Despite this increased estimate production is still seen down 1.1% compared to the previous harvest mainly due adverse weather conditions, according to the ICO. The ICO bases its estimates on information delivered by its member countries, indicating that Vietnam's official coffee bodies now expect a higher 2010/11 output than previously.

The world coffee production estimate of the ICO for 2010/11 has also been raised to 134.6 mln bags, up from 133 mln previously expected.
