Recovery In End Use Markets Providing Positive Demand Growth
Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) and polybutadiene manufacturing industries were the major consumers of butadiene. In 2009, the combined share of both the industries was more than 55% of the demand for butadiene in the Americas. Some of the major markets for butadiene have reached a saturation point which has limited the demand for butadiene in those regions. Countries such as the US have reached the saturation level. The demand for butadiene is rising from other developing countries such as Brazil.

In the forecast period from 2009-2020, the demand is expected to grow at a CAGR of 2.7%. Brazil and Canada are expected to be the growth engines for butadiene demand in their regions, although due to smaller sizes their impact would be marginal on the total demand of their respective regions.
