Gold and Silver are expected down april 11 2012

Gold and Silver are expected down april 11 2012, gold prices target resistance april 11 2012, spot gold prediction 4-11-2012, gold prices outlook april 11 2012 ; Gold edged lower on Wednesday, pausing after four sessions of consecutive gains driven by safe-haven flows on a cloudy global economic outlook, but sentiment has turned cautious as investors seek further clues to growth.

Euphoria over a U.S. economic recovery was cut short by a disappointing employment report that showed far slower jobs expansion than expected, and led investors to question the outlook for the world's largest economy.

According to the research firm, Gold and Silver are expected to trade lower today on account of strength in the US dollar index, as a stronger dollar makes dollar denominated commodities look expensive for holders of other currencies.

Gold: Spot gold prices gained more than 1 percent on Tuesday, as sharp decline in equities led to safe-haven buying in gold market. Gold touched an intra-day high of $ 1662.60/oz and ended its trading session at $ 1659.90/oz on Tuesday. MCX Gold June contract rose around 1.1 percent and hit an intra-day high of Rs. 28,678/10 gms yesterday.

China imported 39,663 kg of gold from Hong Kong in February which was up 20 percent from 32,949 kg in the previous month, according to the data from the Hong Kong Census and Statistics Department. The country imported around 72,612 kg of gold in the first two months of 2012, which was a sharp rise of 589 percent as compared to 10,540 kg in the same period a year ago. This also acted as a positive factor for gold prices. Holdings in the SPDR Gold Trust, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, declined to 1,286.17 tonnes by 10th April 2012, lowest in two and a half weeks.

Silver: Taking cues from rise in gold prices, spot silver rose around 0.8 percent on Tuesday. However, further gains were capped due to a stronger dollar index coupled with downside in base metals. The white metal touched an intra-day high of $ 31.92/oz and closed at $ 31.78/oz yesterday. On the MCX, Silver May contract gained by 0.7 percent and hit an intra-day high of Rs. 56,400/kg on Tuesday.

Outlook: We expect gold and silver on the international markets to trade lower today on account of strength in the US dollar index, as a stronger dollar makes dollar denominated commodities look expensive for holders of other currencies. Silver will also take cues from downside in base metals. However, a weaker Rupee may cushion further decline on the domestic bourses.

gold prices target resistance april 11 2012
Meanwhile, gold resistance point today is at $ 1,662.90, Alternative "Buy" can be done if prices penetrate the resistance point to the target $ 1,669.60 (short), $ 1,674.80

Gold, silver futures rose april 5 2012

Gold, silver futures rose april 5 2012, gold prices april 5 2012 ; Gold futures rose for the first time in three sessions on Thursday, as the previous day’s steep drop to a three-month low created bargain buying opportunities for investors reluctant to bet that prices would fall further.

On the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, gold futures for June delivery traded at USD1,626.05 a troy ounce during early European trade, gaining 0.74%.

It earlier rose by as much as 0.85% to trade at a session high USD1,628.05 a troy ounce. Gold futures fell to USD1,613.55 on Wednesday, its lowest level since January 10 and below its 50-day moving average.

Gold futures were likely to find support at USD1,606.05 a troy ounce, the low from January 9 and resistance at USD1,685.25, the high from April 2.

Gold futures plunged more than 4% in the two sessions leading up to Thursday, including a 3% drop on Wednesday as traders readjusted positions after minutes from the March meeting of the Federal Reserve's Open Market Committee released Tuesday indicated that the central bank was unlikely to introduce more stimulus measures to help boost the U.S. economy in the near term.

This was the second time in a month that gold has sold off in response to signals from the Fed that more easing is not guaranteed.

Gold prices dropped almost 5% in the three sessions following March’s Fed meeting after the central bank gave an upbeat assessment of the U.S. economy, which reduced expectations for a third round of monetary easing in the U.S.

Wall Street investment bank Morgan Stanley downgraded its forecast of further quantitative easing by the Federal Reserve to one-out-of-three chance from two out of three.

Expectations of monetary stimulus tend to benefit gold, as the metal is seen as a safe store of value and inflation hedge.

Attention now shifts to Friday’s U.S. non-farm payrolls data, which could shed further light on the strength of the U.S. economy and the need for further monetary easing in the U.S.

Resurfacing concerns over the euro zone’s debt crisis also added to the gloomy trade environment, after Spain’s Treasury on Wednesday auctioned EUR2.59 billon of government bonds, short of the maximum targeted amount of EUR3.5 billion, in the country’s first debt auction since last week’s austerity budget.

There have been renewed concerns of further debt contagion in the euro zone in recent weeks amid fears over the fiscal health of the region’s fourth largest economy. On Tuesday, Spain’s government announced that the country’s public debt will rise to a record 79.8% of gross domestic product this year.

Elsewhere on the Comex, silver for May delivery jumped 1.5% to trade at USD31.51 a troy ounce, while copper for May delivery added 0.35% to trade at USD3.804 a pound.

Silver Wheaton stock forecast 2012

Silver Wheaton stock forecast 2012, Silver Wheaton Dividend Payment outlook 2012, Silver Wheaton shares prices 2012 ; Silver Wheaton Corporation (SLW) Q4 Earnings have been reported as $0.41 which is around the Mean for the analysts who's expectations were in the order of US$0.460 US$0.406 US$0.370. Hopefully this result will be reasonably well received as it is in line with expectations. When earnings fall short they tend to disappoint the analysts and subsequently the stock can be sold off.

There was also good news for investors as the new dividend policy linking quarterly dividend payments to 20% of the previous quarter's operating cash flows, produced a dividend payment of US$0.09 per common share and will be paid to holders of record of its common shares, as of the close of business on April 4, 2012. This dividend is three times larger than the US$0.03 paid in the previous quarter and takes the total payout to $0.18 for the year, nothing to write home about, but a step in the right direction.

Also of note are the cash costs of US$4.09 per silver equivalent ounce (US$3.99 per ounce of silver and US$300 per ounce of gold), a 1% increase compared to 2010. Now compare that to the cash operating margins which increased by 82% to US$30.61 per ounce of silver and the future starts to sparkle for this silver steaming enterprise.

For disclosure purposes we must point out that do own stock in Silver Wheaton

  • Cash operating margin1 increased 84% compared to 2010, to US$30.56 per silver equivalent ounce. Silver Wheaton's average realized silver equivalent price increased by 68% over this same period, demonstrating Silver Wheaton's leverage to increasing silver prices.

  • Revenue of US$191.9 million, on record silver equivalent sales of 6.0 million ounces (5.8 million ounces of silver and 3,800 ounces of gold).
  • Net earnings of US$144.7 million (US$0.41 per share).
  • Operating cash flows of US$163.7 million (US$0.46 per share1).
  • Average cash costs of US$4.061 per silver equivalent ounce.
  • Quarterly dividend US$0.09 per common share was paid to shareholders, representing a threefold increase from the prior quarter.
  • Appointed Mr. Haytham Hodaly as Senior Vice President, Corporate Development, effective January 1, 2012.

Outlook for 2012
  1. Goldcorp Inc.'s world-class Peñasquito mine is forecast to achieve full production capacity of 130,000 tonnes per day by the end of Q1 2012. This cornerstone asset is poised to become our largest contributor of silver and will drive our production growth in 2012. As a result, Silver Wheaton anticipates a 6% increase in its 2012 attributable production to approximately 27 million silver equivalent ounces, including 16,500 ounces of gold.
  2. Given the Company's unique business model of essentially fixed cash costs2, average cash costs in 2012 are estimated to be approximately US$4.071 per silver equivalent ounce, virtually unchanged from 2011.
  3. Executing on its growth strategy of acquiring additional value-enhancing silver and precious metals streams will remain Silver Wheaton's top priority in 2012.
Silver Wheaton is the largest silver streaming company in the world. Based upon its current agreements, forecast 2012 attributable production is approximately 27 million silver equivalent ounces, including 16,500 ounces of gold. By 2016, annual attributable production is anticipated to increase significantly to approximately 43 million silver equivalent ounces, including 35,000 ounces of gold. This growth is driven by the Company's portfolio of world-class assets, including silver streams on Goldcorp's Peñasquito mine and Barrick's Pascua-Lama project.

Silver Wheaton Corporation has a market capitalization of $11.30Bln, an EPS of $1.32, a 52 week low of $25.84 and a high of $47.60, average volume of shares traded is between 4.00Mln and 5.00Mln, so the liquidity is good, with 353.50 million shares outstanding. Current stock price is $31.98.

Taking a quick peek at the chart above, we can see that the upswing of the 50dma, crossing the 200dma, forming a golden crossover, should have been positive for SLW, however, the fall in silver prices has capped any advance. The technical indicators now suggest that SLW is oversold, so there may be a rebound in the short term.

To conclude we are not convinced yet that the silver prices are about to reverse and head north in the short term, which is disappointing for all the silver bulls, including us. However, should silver drop below the $30.00/oz level (currently standing at $31.57) then we will become interested. Should SLW fall further as a consequence than we will look to increase our exposure via the selection of a few well thought out option plays. Note that we didn't say via acquiring more stock, that is for the simple reason that SLW is already the largest holding we have in the silver space and we are a tad reluctant to place more eggs in the same basket. However we do believe that it should be given full consideration when building a portfolio in the precious metals sector.

Gold and Silver prices expected down march 6 2012

Gold and Silver prices expected down march 6 2012 : Angel Commodities has come out with its report on bullions. According to the research firm Gold and Silver are expected to trade lower today on the back of a stronger dollar coupled with choppy sentiments in the global markets.

Gold
On a weekly basis, spot gold prices declined sharply by 3.5 percent, marking its biggest weekly decline since December, on the back of dollar strength, as a stronger dollar makes dollar-denominated commodities look expensive for the holders of the other currencies. Additionally, fall in crude oil prices decreased the inflation-led demand for gold which also affected the yellow metal prices last week. Gold touched a low of $1687/oz and closed its trading session at the level of $1711/oz last week. On the MCX, Gold April contract dropped around 2.4 percent last week as further decline was cushioned on account of a weaker Rupee and closed at Rs27,985/10 gms after touching low of Rs27,730/10 gms. Holdings in the SPDR Gold Trust, the world's largest gold-backed exchange-traded fund, rose around 0.7 percent to 1,293.68 tonnes by 2nd March 2012 from the previous level of 1,284.61 tonnes on 24th February.

Silver
Taking cues from fall in gold prices and dollar strength, spot silver declined sharply by 1.8 percent in the last week. Silver being an industrial metal also took cues from mixed movement in base metals pack. The white metal touched a low of $34.13/oz during the week and closed its trading session at the level of $34.75/oz on Friday. On the MCX, Silver May contract dropped around 0.7 percent last week and sharp decline was resisted due to depreciation in the Indian Rupee. The white metal touched a low of Rs57,120/kg during the week and closed at Rs58,056/kg on Friday. Holdings in the iShares Silver Trust, the world's largest silver-backed exchange-traded fund, rose sharply by 0.8 percent to 9763.25 tonnes on 2nd March 2012 from the previous 9692.96 tonnes on 24th February 2012.

silver prices predictions feb 27 - march 2 2012

silver prices predictions feb 27 - march 2 2012 : Silver rose strongly this week and outperformed gold. Support for silver and for the platinum group metals, comes in part to hopes of the U.S. economy can stay on its moderate growth path.

Tully said the recent gains in silver have helped the gold:silver ratio to budge under the 51 area, to 50.41 as of Thursday, the lowest since early November. She said the stout rally silver had on Thursday was in part because the metal rose above its 200-day moving average, triggering resting buy orders.

“Interestingly, while our client flows were generally dominated by sellers, the market barely flinched and prices continued its climb higher. Such resilience could suggest that investors are starting to return to the market. With positive sentiment in gold continuing to grow, it would not be a surprise if some of that optimism is spilling over into silver. But we think it’s too early to make that conclusion just yet,” she said.

Barclays Capital technical analysts are also positive on silver, looking for it to move to the $35.70 area next week, with the gold:silver ratio falling to the 49.40 area.

Average silver prices forecast 2012-2013

Average silver prices forecast 2012-2013 ; Average silver prices meanwhile are seen easing to an average $33.21 an ounce this year from last year's median price level of $34.99 an ounce, little changed from current levels.

The Federal Reserve's pledge this week to keep U.S. interest rates at rock-bottom levels for a number of years and its hints of fresh monetary easing are set to fuel further gains in silver, keeping the opportunity cost of holding silver low and the dollar in check.

Investors remain shy of the white metal, which is used in electronics manufacturing and jewelry, after prices slumped by a third in the five sessions after they hit record highs last spring.

"Silver's violent price moves last year have undermined its investor appeal for the time being, The market needs fresh catalysts to encourage more participation."

"We still do not rule out another stab at $50 an ounce. Given our expectation for gold to make new highs in the coming year, we could very well see silver enjoying some spillover benefits. But for this to happen, silver needs to rebuild its investor base," she added.

"With 50 percent of overall demand accounted for by industrial applications, this could be a drag on silver's performance." Silver mine supply has also hit record levels in recent years.

In 2013, i see silver prices rising to $35 an ounce, up on their expectations for this year but still well below last year's record high of $49.51 an ounce. For the latest updates on the stock market, visit Stock Market Today

silver prices prediction january 23 -27 2012

silver prices prediction january 23 -27 2012 ; Silver futures surged Friday to their highest level in six weeks, as hopes for steady demand for the precious metal replaced the economic gloom that dragged prices lower last month.

Silver price, even more than gold price, sharply increased during last week by 7.29%; this week’s average price reached 30.72/t oz which is 3.68% above the previous week’s average $29.63/t oz.

The most actively traded silver contract, for March delivery, rose $1.166, or 3.8%, to settle at $31.675 a troy ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile Exchange, the highest ending price since Dec. 9.

About half of silver demand comes from industrial uses, making the metal more sensitive to some economic indicators than gold. Because of its conductivity and durability, silver is used extensively in electronics for cellphones, computers, automobiles and solar panels.

The recent trend of better-than-expected economic data from the U.S. and top commodities consumer China has helped to blunt the pessimism that weighed on the silver market at the end of 2011.

Gold and silver prices outlook january 19 2012

Gold and silver prices outlook january 19 2012 : Gold and silver prices are gaining in trading today after the euro rose sharply against the dollar on reports that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is planning to expand its lending resources. However, the gains have been limited as investors watch developments in Greece, where officials are meeting with private investors to decide on the haircut they need to take on their Greek debt holdings.

At last check, spot gold was trading 0.30% higher at $1,655.84 an ounce. Gold futures for delivery in February are up $1.10 to $1,656.70 an ounce.

Gold prices rose as the euro pared its early losses and climbed 0.7% against the U.S. dollar. The euro rose after Bloomberg reported that IMF is looking to boost its lending resources by $1 trillion.

However, traders are watching developments in Greece and this has kept the gains limited. Anne-Laure Tremblay, analyst at BNP Paribas, told Reuters that while in the short term, gold may have further upside, failure of Greece and its private creditors to reach an agreement in the coming days could derail the upward trend.

Gold has already risen nearly 6% this year, breaking ranks with the euro.

In a research note, HSBC today said that corrective EUR-USD could continue as there are large short positions in the euro and further gains may result in a sharp short covering euro rally. HSBC noted that this would likely support gold, however, beyond a near-term rally, slow progress on the euro zone debt crisis may keep the market negative on the euro and limit euro gains.

Silver prices are also higher in trading today. At last check, spot silver was trading 0.8% higher at $30.30 an ounce. For the latest updates on the stock market, visit Stock Market Today

MCX Gold, silver tips jan 13 2012

silver prices prediction April 2012

silver prices prediction April 2012, silver prices will to hit $50 in April 2012 : I believe the short squeeze that took Silver to $49.73 in April has taught the commercials how tight the physical silver market actually is, and that the commercials "appear to have no interest in massively shorting silver again". As a result, I look for silver to make massive gains in the near futures, as the commercials turn and go net long, resulting in $50 silver appearing "cheap" in the near future.

The big commercial silver shorts had a near death experience when the price approached $50 in April. They were at the end of their rope and needed to do something in a hurry. That’s why they rigged prices lower; so that they could buy and save themselves. These well-connected commercials knew, perhaps for the very first time, just how tight the silver market had become and how close we were to a profound physical shortage. The key is that the silver shortage wasn’t caused by excessive speculative buying or a bubble or a mania. The extreme tightness and near shortage in silver was as a result of the gradual and cumulative impact of normal investment buying over the past five years. There is nothing to suggest that the long term and steady silver investment buying has ended.

Because there was no bubble or mania in silver, there was no bubble to burst. The orchestrated take-downs of the price by the big commercial interests were simply so that these commercials could buy and rid themselves of Silver short positions. That’s done now. That means that the silver market is now in the best possible shape.

What lies ahead for silver is exciting. While we have not witnessed a bubble in silver yet, we will some day. The silver story and the dynamics of the market are too compelling for an investment mania not to emerge at some point. If anything, speculative sentiment has been completely wrung out from silver, clearing the way for speculators and investors to enter the market with a vengeance.

At some point, enough of the world’s industrial silver users will panic as prices climb and attempt to build physical silver inventories. This user buying, something that never kicked in during the run to $50 will create a silver shortage, the likes of which never witnessed before. It seems that the big commercial interests have come to learn the real silver story and they appear to want no part of the short side again. The major pressure of selling has passed...and the way seems clear for higher prices. By the time the next chapter in the silver story plays out, $50 could look cheap. Source: Butler Research

silver supply and demand 2012

silver supply and demand 2012 : As with gold, we expect heightened price volatility for silver in 2012 - but more so, with investors seeing silver as a leveraged play on gold. This in part reflects heightened political and economic uncertainty which plays havoc with the commodities markets. We expect to see silver holding robust interest amongst the speculator community and gaining in respect amongst the investor community with a tightening market justifying prices well above the $20 level.

However, slower global industrial output coupled with a firm US dollar in H1 2012 should provide a drag on runaway silver prices - although we see the possibility of a brief price spike based around difficult geopolitical concerns. Should economic conditions prove less difficult than feared in H2, then there are grounds for saying that silver could benefit as a recovery stock of sorts based upon its good industrial applications. So for silver its a case of heads or tails / we win really.
