car market share prediction july 2012

car market share prediction july 2012 : predicts that the United States automakers market shares will all take a hit in July. This prediction was based largely on the percentage of fleet sales. Edmunds.com predicts the Japanese Big 3 will show gains in market share.

Nissan is expected to show the biggest gain. On the other hand, among the major automakers, Ford is expected to lose the most market share month over month. Ford is expected to have a market share of 15.2 percent which is a 2.0 drop from July 2011. GM is expected to have a market share of 18.4 percent in July, a 1.9 percent drop from July 2011. Chrysler is expected to have a market share of 10.5 percent which has a 0.1 drop from July 2011.

Because domestic
automakers tend to have a higher percentage of fleet sales, it’s no surprise that their market shares will all take a hit this month,” said Jessica Caldwell, Edmunds.com senior analyst. “But with new product launches driving today’s ultra-competitive retail environment, it will be that much more difficult for any automaker to recover lost market share.” According to the latest auto sales predictions by Edmunds.com, an estimated 1,166,665 new cars will be sold in July.

This reflects a 9.2 decrease from
June 2012 but a 10.2 increase from July 2011. Auto sales are still on a track for around 14 million vehicles, “a good sign that fleet is not carrying the industry,” said Caldwell.
