European stock markets outlook jan 12 2012 : Concerns over the euro zone’s debt crisis continued to dominate market sentiment after ratings agency Fitch said Wednesday that the European Central Bank should do more to avoid a 'cataclysmic' collapse of the single currency.

Looking ahead, the outlook for European stock markets jan 12 2012 was mixed ahead of the ECB’s rate decision. Also Thursday, Spain was to offer up to EUR5 billion of government bonds maturing in 2015 and 2016, while Italy was set to auction as much as EUR4.75 billion of 5-year bonds on Friday, in what was being viewed as a critical test of investor’s appetite for euro zone sovereign debt.

The EURO STOXX 50 futures pointed to a gain of 0.25%, France’s CAC 40 futures added 0.35%, London’s FTSE 100 futures dipped 0.1%, while Germany's DAX futures pointed to a modest 0.1% rise.
