Energy Transfer Equity LP (ETE, $44.78, +$0.10, +0.23%) agreed to take over Southern Union ($41.49, +$1.12, +2.77%) in an $8.9 billion deal, topping an offer from rival suitor Williams Cos. (WMB, $30.48, -$0.27, -0.88%), and substantially higher than Energy Transfer's initial offer. Under the revised terms of the deal, Southern Union shareholders will receive $40 in cash or 0.903 Energy Transfer common units for each share.
Immucor ($26.98, +$6.25, +30.15%) has agreed to be acquired by private equity firm TPG Capital for about $1.97 billion in a deal heralded as an opportunity to expand the blood-test product maker's global presence. Under the deal, which is expected to close later this year, Immucor shareholders will receive $27 in cash for each share of Immucor share, a 30% premium to the company's Friday close.
National Oilwell Varco Inc. (NOV, $79.88, +$1.57, +2.00%) agreed to acquire Ameron ($84.42, +$18.15, +27.39%) in a $772 million deal, adding a leading producer of fiberglass-composite pipe for transporting oil and chemicals to the oil-patch-equipment maker's portfolio. The offer price is $85 a share, a 28% premium to Friday's close.
Netflix Inc. (NFLX, $281.21, +$13.22, +4.93%) will expand its global reach by launching Internet streaming services in 43 countries throughout Latin America and the Caribbean later this year.
