Gold Silver prices today july 18 2011 ; Gold prices are soaring today and the positive slope of gold price per ounce is attracting more attention today as the day progresses. Uncertainty would be the appropriate term to describe the feeling investors have regarding the status of the economy currently. This uncertainty has driven safe haven gold above the 1600 price per ounce mark today.

As the mid-day mark of today’s trading session approached, the major indices were all posting in the red. The Nasdaq was lower by 44.91 at 2,744.89. The DJIA was lower by 11.73 at 12,308.00 and the S&P 500 was lower by 19.26 at 1,296.88. As the major indices drop lower today, the safe haven appeal of precious metal gold pushed higher. As the halfway point of the trading session approached today, precious metal gold was moving in the green.

August contract gold was green by 15.10 on the day at 1605.20 per troy ounce. Silver contract for September delivery was higher at this point as well. Silver was higher by 1.35 at 40.43 per troy ounce. Spot gold and spot silver moved in the same direction. Spot gold price per gram was higher by .47 at 51.58 and spot gold price per kilo was higher by 471.33 at 51584.59.
