Best Stocks to buy Thursday's may 26 2011 : Among the companies whose shares are expected to actively trade in Thursday's may 26 2011 session are NetApp Inc. (NTAP), Computer Sciences Corp. (CSC) and Tiffany & Co. (TIF).

NetApp's fiscal fourth-quarter earnings rose 11%, and the storage company issued a strong outlook for the current quarter as it experiences robust demand and market share gains. Shares climbed 3.7% to $53.63 in pre-market trading.

Computer Sciences' fiscal fourth-quarter earnings fell 34% as revenue was flat and its gross margin declined. Shares fell 6.2% to $41.36 in premarket trading as the results fell short of analysts' estimates and the company gave a cautious earnings forecast.

Tiffany's fiscal first-quarter earnings rose 26%, topping the company's own estimate, as it continued to post double-digit sales growth and improved margins. Shares were trading up 3.9% at $72.78 premarket as the company raised its full-year earnings estimate.

Guess Inc.'s (GES) fiscal first-quarter profit slid 15% on weaker margins and currency-related expenses, although the bottom line topped the apparel maker's expectations, as results benefited from strong global demand, led by Asia and Europe. Shares rose 13% to $45.30 in pre-market trading.

Signet Jewelers Ltd.'s (SIG) fiscal first-quarter earnings rose 50% and beat analysts' estimates as the jewelry retailer saw a jump in U.S. sales and improved margins. Shares were up 6.8% to $46.50 in pre-market trading.

Big Lots Inc.'s (BIG) fiscal first-quarter earnings fell a surprising 6.1% as the discount retailer reported lower sales at its established stores and higher costs. Shares slid 3.7% to $31.15 in premarket trading.

Goldman Sachs downgraded its stock investment rating on RadioShack Corp. (RSH) to neutral and trimmed $1 from its price target to $17 as its second-quarter forecast currently stands below consensus estimates. It contends increased wireless competition and smartphone penetration warrants a review of how much wireless will continue to boost the retailer's results. RadioShack's stock has dropped 21% since Goldman added the stock it to its buy list in January 2010, slightly outpacing the broader market. Shares fell 2.7% in light premarket trading to $15.20.

Rigel Pharmaceuticals Inc. (RIGL) unveiled plans to offer an unspecified number of common shares. Shares in the clinical-stage drug developer dropped on potential dilution to shareholder value, falling 5.8% to $8 premarket.

Complete Genomics Inc.'s (GNOM) public offering of 5.5 million common shares was priced at $12.50, a 6.2% discount to Wednesday's close. Shares were at $13.05 in premarket trading, down 2%.

AFC Enterprises Inc. (AFCE) fiscal first-quarter earnings rose 24% on the restaurant operator's same-store sales growth, in results that just topped expectations.

Ascena Retail Group Inc.'s (ASNA) fiscal third-quarter earnings rose 7.9% to top analysts' consensus expectation, as the women's apparel retailer credited a successful mix of fashions combined with a value message.

Standard & Poor's Ratings Services lifted Constellation Brands Inc. (STZ) to the verge of investment-grade territory, saying the alcoholic-beverage company's financial profile and credit measures have improved.

Fred's Inc.'s (FRED) fiscal first-quarter earnings rose 16% as the Southeast-focused discount retailer saw sales growth and slightly lower overhead costs. The results came in at the low end of the company's expectations as it saw extreme weather in April and its customers continued to be challenged by rising food and gas prices.

Genesco Inc.'s (GCO) fiscal first-quarter profit surged 72% as the hat and footwear retailer's two largest segments posted double-digit sales growth. The results easily beat Wall Street expectations and prompted the company to raise its full-year earnings estimate.

Hhgregg Inc.'s (HGG) fiscal fourth-quarter earnings rose 46%, beating analysts' estimates, as margins and sales climbed amid the addition of new stores.

H.J. Heinz Co.'s (HNZ) fiscal fourth-quarter earnings rose 16% as the condiment and food company got a boost from higher prices, a weaker dollar and acquisitions.

Lundin Mining Corp. (LUN.T, LUNMF) said Wednesday it decided that none of the offers it received either to buy some of its assets or the company itself was in the company's best interests.

Patterson Cos. (PDCO), a wholesaler of dental, veterinary and other products, saw its fiscal fourth-quarter profit grow 1.5% on across-the-board sales growth, topping Wall Street expectations for the period.

Semtech Corp.'s (SMTC) fiscal first-quarter profit more than doubled from a year-earlier period in which the company was stung by one-time items. Revenue and margins rose in the latest period. The results topped the company's expectations and it gave an upbeat forecast.

Sigma Designs Inc. (SIGM) swung to a first-quarter loss as charges weighed on its bottom line and revenue and margins slumped. Adjusted earnings fell short of analysts' estimates and Chief Executive Thinh Tran said the company was "disappointed" with the results.
