"I was so delighted they had been inspired by it," Boorman tells Mandrake at a Dyslexia Action event. "I was told the family all sat down and watched the show. It is a wonderful thing to be involved in inspiring anyone to go out and have an adventure."
Duke of Buccleuch hopes to learn from Da Vinci art theft
The Duke of Buccleuch, whose family suffered the theft of a Leonardo da Vinci masterpiece in a raid on their ancestral home, will be hoping for better luck in his new role. Mandrake can disclose that the duke has been appointed as a trustee of the Queen's art collection.
"The trustees are responsible for making sure that the collection is subject to proper custodial control," says a spokesman for the Royal Collection. The duke told a court in March that the painting, The Madonna of the Yarnwinder, which was valued at £20 million in 2008, played a "very special part'' in the life of his family.
It was stolen in 2003 from Drumlanrig Castle in Dumfriesshire. The duke said it was a "huge relief'' to find that the painting was undamaged when it was recovered in 2007.
Gabriella Wilde loses her name
Gabriella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe took the view that her name was unlikely to do wonders for her acting ambitions. Her decision to promote herself as Gabriella Wilde appears to have paid off, as her career is going so well that she has abandoned modelling.
"I will never model again," the 21-year-old star of St Trinian's 2: The Legend of Fritton's Gold tells me at the launch of Public, Guy Pelly's nightclub in Chelsea. "I am an actress now. I've just been filming abroad on The Three Musketeers."
Wilde, whose half-sister Isabella Calthorpe was the subject of Prince William's unrequited affections, adds: "I am so serious about my acting. I am happy with what I am doing now and I am planning to stick to it." For the latest updates PRESS CTR + D or visit Stock Market news Today
