Acting communications director for the group Ian Overgage said that fiscal recovery is likely to continue for the immediate future, adding that investors are "putting their faith in the emerging economies as the sector to watch and resources as the sector of choice". However, he noted that it is "nearly impossible to predict what will happen to markets in the future".
Earlier this year, the AIC revealed the average private equity company was up 53 per cent for the first few months of 2010, but down 24 per cent over the last five years, as a result of the recession.

Equities will be the best performing asset in 2011 according to the UK's leading investment trust managers with the FTSE 100 expected to rise to between 6,000 and 6,500. A poll of investment company managers representing £31bn of assets found them in bullish mood.

Investment trust managers are positive about 2011, with nearly 100% expecting markets to rise, compared to 74% this time last year.
