US Stock markets, Dow Jones, S&P 500, Nasdaq Futures outlook december 6 2011

US Stock markets, Dow Jones, S&P 500, Nasdaq Futures outlook december 6 2011 : The US equity markets closed Monday's session on a positive note on hopes of resolution to the European debt crisis. Investors looked optimistic after the statement from French President Nicolas Sarkozy in a meeting held ahead the EU summit on December 9. He said Germany and France had reached an agreement on new set of fiscal rules for the eurozone.

But the market erased some gains in the afternoon trade after a report in the Financial Times that some eurozone countries including France and Germany may face downgrades from rating agency Standard & Poor's.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 78.41 points or 0.65%, to close at 12,097.83, which lost 88.7 points from day's high of 12,186.53.

The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 28.83 points or 1.10%, to end at 2,655.76, after falling 18.77 points from day's high of 2,674.53. The S&P 500 Index went up 12.80 points or 1.03% to 1,257.08.

Shares of Citigroup gained nearly 6% and Morgan Stanley rose 7%. Among others, Metlife jumped close to 4%. Advancing shares outnumbered declining ones by ratio of about four to one on the New York Stock Exchange.
