best short term stocks to buy in 2011 india : Indian equities which surged during the previous week, declined during the week ended 25 February 2011 due to concerns about the implications of the rise in crude prices for the Indian economy, and interest rates in particular. Both the indices, Sensex and Nifty plunged around 3% during the week. While the indices ended in the green on the first and the last trading day of the week, they were in the red for three days in between. Except BSE Oil & Gas index, all other indices ended in red. Capital Goods and Auto stocks were the worst hit during the week, BSE Capital Goods and BSE Auto declined by 6.15% and 5.35% respectively.

Banking Funds and Mid Cap Funds witnessed a sharp decline of about 4% during the one week period. Tax Saving Funds declined by 3.31%, Multi Cap Funds by 3.27%, Large Cap Funds by 3.18% and Index Funds by 2.87%. On the flipside, Gold Exchange Traded Funds (ETFs) and Debt Funds, ended the one week period ended 25 February 2011, as gainers.

Among the debt fund categories, Gilt - Medium & Long Term gained the highest by 0.19%, followed by Floating Rate Income Funds - Long Term, Floating Rate Income Funds - Short Term, Ultra Short Term Funds and Liquid Funds that climbed up 0.15% each, Gilt - Short Term Funds gained by 0.14%, Income Funds and Short Term Income Funds increased by 0.13% each.
