NRG Energy (NRG)
Analysts expect NRG Energy (NRG) to have a poor quarter and swing to a loss when it reports its first quarter earnings on Thursday, May 3, 2012. They are expecting NRG to come in at a loss of 14 cents per share, a reversal from earnings of 28 cents per share a year ago.The consensus estimate has increased over the past month, from a loss of 15 cents, but it’s below the estimate of a loss of 10 cents from three months ago. For the fiscal year, analysts are projecting earnings of 78 cents per share.

Revenue is expected to be $2.2 billion for the quarter, 10.3% higher than the year-earlier total of $2 billion. For the year, revenue is projected to roll in at $9.61 billion.Analyst Ratings: The majority of analysts (77.8%) rate NRG as a buy. Analyst Ratings: The majority of analysts (62.5%) rate Estee Lauder as a buy. This compares favorably to the analyst ratings of its nearest 10 competitors, which average 60.3% buys. The average analyst rating of the stock has stayed unchanged from three months prior.

AES‘s (AES) : announcement of its first quarter earnings on Friday, May 4, 2012 analysts have become more wary as expectations have fallen over the past month to earnings of 29 cents per share from earnings of 32 cents per share.The consensus estimate has gone up from 28 cents over the past three months. Duke Energy is currently trading around $21.38 a share. So far this year, the stock has lost about 3 percent in value.

Estee Lauder Cos. Inc. (NYSE: EL) has a market cap of $25.21 billion and is expected to report first-quarter EPS of 33 cents on revenue of $2.25 billion, compared with a profit of 71 cents a share on revenue of $2.17 billion in the year-ago period. Estee Lauder is currently trading around $65.02 a share. So far this year, the stock has gained 15.78 percent in value.

Exelon Corp. (NYSE: EXC) has a market cap of $25.61 billion and is expected to report first-quarter EPS of 81 cents on revenue of $7.67 billion, compared with a profit of $1.17 a share on revenue of $5.05 billion in the year-ago period. Exelon is currently trading around $38.59 a share. So far this year, the stock has lost 11 percent in value.
