US stock market outlook week march 5 - 9 2012

US stock market outlook week march 5 - 9 2012 : Markets will examine the latest unemployment data, which will be released on Friday. As the fourth-quarter earnings season slows down, teen-focused retailers are expected to report mixed quarterly results next week.

Euro-zone finance ministers will make a final decision on a bailout deal for Greece next week after the country's debt swap is completed.

February's Unemployment Data To Be Released Friday
Investors will be looking for signs of an economic recovery when the Labor Department releases nonfarm payrolls data and the February unemployment rate on Friday.  Economists polled by Dow Jones expect February's unemployment rate to stay at 8.3%.

The U.S. economy added more jobs in January than in any month since early last year, pushing down the unemployment rate to a level not seen since President Barack Obama's first full month in office. January's rate marked the fifth consecutive monthly decline.

Quarterly Earnings Due From Teen Retailers
A handful of retailers are expected to report their latest quarterly results next week.

Teen-focused retailer Aeropostale Inc. (ARO) is projected to post weaker results, according to analysts polled by Thomson Reuters. The company's stock slumped last year as its girls' business failed to resonate with shoppers and it saw stiffer competition from its teen rivals.

Analysts expect American Eagle Outfitters Inc. (AEO) to post weaker bottom-line results, though revenue is seen improving, while Hot Topic Inc. (HOTT) is projected to post a slight revenue decline.

Other retailers reporting next week include Buckle Inc. (BKE), Children's Place Retail Stores Inc. (PLCE), Coldwater Creek Inc. (CWTR), Men's Wearhouse Inc. (MW) and Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. (DKS).

Euro-Zone Ministers To Decide On Greek Bailout

The euro zone enters a critical period for Greece's debt restructuring next week, during which investors must indicate whether they'll accept a steep write-down in their holdings, industry experts will determine whether the plan should be declared a credit event and euro-zone governments will decide on fresh aid to the country to prevent it from defaulting later this month.

The ministers are expected to hold a conference call Friday about approving disbursement of the EUR130 billion ($173.03 billion) bailout, holding off funds until the debt-exchange offer to private-sector creditors has been successfully concluded. Euro-zone finance ministers gave the green light for credit sweeteners and other enhancements that will allow Greece to complete the process but the EUR107 billion debt write-down still hinges on a majority of creditors waiving 53.5% of their principal.

Apple To Ask Court To Halt Kodak's Bankruptcy; Dynegy To Ask For More Time
In Manhattan on Thursday, Apple Inc. (AAPL) will ask to move forward with the patent-infringement litigation that Eastman Kodak Co.'s (EKDKQ) Chapter 11 bankruptcy halted.

The maker of computers, music players and smartphones said it fears that a disputed digital-imaging patent may be among the treasure trove of patents that are fated for sale in Kodak's restructuring.

Apple said Kodak "misappropriated Apple's technology" to get the patent, which concerns a digital camera that can preview images on an LCD screen and which is among those over which the two companies have battled in a federal court.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Dynegy Holdings LLC will ask a bankruptcy judge in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., for more time to protect its contested restructuring plan from the threat of rival plans.

Dynegy's exclusive Chapter 11 plan-filing rights are set to expire Tuesday, but a court hearing on an outline of its plan has been pushed to March 12. The company wants to make sure that it keeps a tight grip on its restructuring through an extension of its exclusive plan rights through July 5.

U.S. House Expected To Vote On China Tariff Bill
A bill that would ensure that tariffs on nearly $5 billion in imports from China, Vietnam and elsewhere can remain in place is expected to come to the House floor for a vote next week, a person familiar with the matter said Friday.

The bill would provide a fix to preserve the Commerce Department's ability to levy countervailing duties on subsidized imports from China. Obama administration officials have pushed for such legislation to be enacted after a federal appeals court ruled late last year that the Commerce Department couldn't impose such duties on imports from nonmarket economies.

GOP Candidates To Face Off On Super Tuesday

The race for the Republican presidential nomination heats up next week, with 437 delegates up for grabs in Super Tuesday contests.

Of the 10 states holding primaries or caucuses on Tuesday, Georgia and Ohio have the biggest number of delegates at stake. Ahead of Super Tuesday, Washington state will host its caucuses on Saturday.

To win the nomination, a GOP candidate needs the votes of at least 1,144 delegates at the Republican National Convention in Tampa this August. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is the frontrunner, with 163 delegates so far.
