Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs are expected to lead what would be one of the largest initial public offerings in U.S. history, the Journal cited its sources as saying.
Tech stocks like Facebook can create plenty of buzz on Wall Street when they file for an initial public offering, or IPO, of stock. Below is a look at how tech stocks and other Internet-related stocks of some companies fared after going through a recent IPO. Some have done well. Others haven't.
Zynga Inc.
Among IPOs of tech stocks, Zynga drew a lot of attention, not all of it positive. The first day of trading for the developer of online games was Dec. 16, 2011.
Pricing: $10 per share
First-day close: $9.50, down 5 percent from IPO price
Monday's close: $10.39, up 4 percent from IPO price
Trading range since IPO: $7.97 to $11.50
Jive Software Inc.
Jive Software Inc. is a creator of tools to run social networks for businesses. Its first day of trading was Dec. 13, 2011.
Pricing: $12 per share
First-day close: $15.05, up 25 percent from IPO price
Monday's close: $14.84, up 24 percent from IPO price
Trading range since IPO: $14.18 to $16.86
Angie's List Inc.
Angie's List Inc. offers up online consumer reviews of local plumbers, electricians, and other services. Its first day of trading was on Nov. 17, 2011.
Pricing: $13 per share
First-day close: $16.26, up 25 percent from IPO price
Monday's close: $14.74, up 13 percent from IPO price
Trading range since IPO: $10.77 to $18.75
Groupon Inc.
Groupon Inc., an online deals company, generated a huge amount of publicity with its IPO. Its first day of trading was Nov. 4, 2011.
Pricing: $20 per share
First-day close: $26.11, up 31 percent from IPO price
Monday's close: $19.63, down 2 percent from IPO price.
Trading range since IPO: $14.85 to $31.14
Pandora Media Inc.
Pandora Media Inc. is an Internet radio company. Its first day of trading was June 15, 2011.
Pricing: $16 per share
First-day close: $17.42, up 9 percent from IPO price
Monday's close: $13.66, down 15 percent from IPO price
Trading range since IPO: $9.15 to $26
LinkedIn Corp.
LinkedIn Corp., an online professional network, was one of the first well-known social media companies to go public. Its first day of trading was May 19, 2011.
Pricing: $45 per share
First-day close: $94.25, more than double IPO price
Friday's close: $75.11, up 67 percent from IPO price
Trading range since IPO: $55.98 to $122.70
Demand Media Inc.
Demand Media Inc. is an online content publisher. Its first day of trading was on Jan. 26, 2011.
Pricing: $17 per share
First-day close: $22.65, up 33 percent
Monday's close: $6.73, down 60 percent from IPO price
Trading range since IPO: $5.24 to $27.38
