Benchmark crude for January delivery was up 7 cents to $97.84 a barrel in midday Singapore time in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The contract fell $1.64 to settle at $97.77 on Monday.
Three oil exploration stocks fell 0.95% to 1.5% at 10:14 IST on BSE after crude oil fell 1.65% to settle at $97.77 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange on Monday, 12 December 2011.
Oil India (down 1.5% to Rs. 1,132), Cairn India (down 0.99% to Rs. 298.85) and ONGC (down 0.95% to Rs. 255) edged lower. Meanwhile, the BSE Sensex was down 17.29 points, or 0.11% to 15,853.06.
Oil India had underperformed the market over the past one month till 12 December 2011, falling 10.87% compared with the Sensex's 7.69% decline.
