3M (MMM) shares prices forecast 2012

3M (MMM) shares prices forecast 2012 : 3M(MMM) shares rose after the diversified manufacturer affirmed its 2011 earnings per share guidance Tuesday and provided a positive outlook for 2012. 3M said it expects 2011 earnings of $5.85 to $5.95 a share for 2012, the company estimated 2012 profit of $6.25 to $6.50 a share.

3M also said it expects sales of between $30.2 billion and $31.5 billion in 2012 and operating margins of between 21% and 22.5%. Analysts expect 2012 profit from 3M of $6.31 a share on sales of $30.6 billion.

A recent report from Jefferies said 3M is offsetting headwinds from adjustments to inventory with new product sales in bioplastics, ultra light transportation materials and low leakage water systems, among other areas.

Jefferies analysts called 3M's 2012 outlook "conservative" based on "the assumption that the downstream inventory adjustments that started in June persist through [first quarter 2012] and global industrial production grows 1%-2%."
