Specialty pharmaceutical company BioSante Pharmaceuticals said the Food and Drug Administration's clinical hold on its GVAX Prostate Cancer Vaccine for the treatment of prostate cancer has been lifted. The company said manufacturing of new GVAX Prostate is complete and planning for a phase II clinical trial is underway. Shares gained 4.3% to $3.14 in premarket trading.
Shares of Oxigene rose 11% to $4.73 premarket after reporting encouraging data in a Phase II trial of Zybrestat in non-small cell lung cancer on Saturday. The biotech's shares had rallied sharply on Friday ahead of study presentations expected over the weekend.
Ruby Tuesday Inc. (RT) said two of its investors have joined forces to nominate a slate of three for the casual-dining chain's board. Investment firm Becker Drapkin Management LP and hedge-fund firm Carlson Capital LP, along with their respective affiliates, formed a group representing a beneficial ownership of about 5.6% of outstanding shares, Ruby Tuesday said. Shares were up 1.3% in after-hours trading Friday at $9.80.
Pilgrim's Pride Corp. (PPC) named Fabio Sandri as chief financial officer Friday, succeeding the retiring Gary D. Tucker after his eight years at the poultry producer. Sandri was most recently CFO of the largest private post-secondary educational institution in Brazil, Estacio Participacoes, according to Pilgrim's Pride. Shares were up 1.7% at $4.12 in after-hours trading Friday.
