iraqi dinar News today may 4 2011, Kuwaiti dinar stable at 0.274 per dollar : Exchange rate of the Kuwaiti dinar remained stable at KD 0.274 against the US dollar and also with the euro, recording KD 0.406, the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) said on Wednesday. But the dinar went low against the pound Sterling, by 0.451, whilst remaining at the same level against the Japanese yen, at KD 0.003, and also having a hike at KD 0.317 against the Swiss franc. Investors kept on avoiding high-risk operations, focusing on currencies as safe haven for the second day on a row, with the US dollar and Japanese yen attracting investors in fear of reprisals by al-Qaeda on the aftermath of killing of its leader Osama Bin Laden earlier this week.

Kuwait budget surplus KD 6.5b in 2010-11
Kuwait’s net budget surplus increased to 6.5 billion dinars ($23.5 billion) in its 2010/11 fiscal year as oil income jumped, while spending remained trailing the original plan, preliminary data showed on Tuesday. The net figure is after a transfer of 10 percent of revenues to a fund for future generations, managed by the OPEC producer’s sovereign wealth fund.Read More...

Algeria issues 2,000-dinar banknote
The Bank of Algeria last week introduced a new 2,000-dinar bill. The banknote, released April 28th, can be recognised by its greenish-blue colour, the watermark depicting the effigy of Emir Abdelkader, a safety thread and a hologram. The regulation was adopted by the Currency and Credit Council last month in order to enlarge the range of banknotes available in Algeria and bring the number of denominations on the market to five.
