Despite the lower yields, the U.S. peanut production for 2010-11 is estimated to increase by more than 7% from 3691.65 million pounds to 3962 million pounds due to major increase in harvested area. The yields are estimated lower by 279 pounds or 8.15% at 3142 pounds per acre in 2010-11 against 3421 pounds per acre in 2009-10 while the harvested area is up by around 17% from 1079 thousand acres in 2009-10 to 1261 thousand acres in 2010-11, as per the usda report.

For 2010-11, the Georgia's peanut production is estimated to increase by around 6% from 1797.5 million pounds in 2009-10 to 1904 million pounds mainly due to increase in the harvested area. The peanut harvested area in Georgia is estimated up by 55 thousand acres or around 11% from 505 kt acres in 2009-10 to 550 thousand acres in 2010-11. Though the production is up due to increase in area, it was partially offset by the decrease in yields from 3560 pounds in 2009-10 to 3400 pounds in 2010-11. The yields are estimated down by 4.5% or 160 ponuds.
For 2010-11, peanut production of Texas is estimated at 520 million pounds up by around 2.60% from previous year's 506.85 million. The harvested area in the state of Texas is estimated up by 5 thousand acres to 160 kt acres while the projected yields are down by 20 pounds from 3270 in 2009-10 to 3250 pounds per acre in 2010-11.
Despite substantial increase in harvesting area, the peanut production in Alabama state is estimated little lower at 486.2 million pounds in 2010-11 against 495 million pound in 2009-10, down by 8.8 million or around 1.8%, due to great reduction in yields this year. The harvested area is estimated to increase from 150 thousand acres to 187 kt acres, an increase of around 25%, but the peanut yields in Alabama are estimated down at just 2600 pounds in 2010-11 against 3300 pounds in 2009-10 showing the decrease of more than 20%.
The peanut production in Florida is forecast to increase for the year 2010-11 due to increase in the harvested area. As per the usda report, the production in 2010-11 is estimated at 432 million pounds up by around 28% from previous year's 336 million pound. The harvested area is also set to increase in proportion to production from 105 thousand acres to 135 kt acres, an increase of around 28% while the yields are projected at same level of 3200 pounds per acre as in previous year.
Though the area under peanut in North Carolina is estimated higher than previous year, the production is forecast to drop in 2010-11 due to the substantial decrease in the yields. The production is estimated at 228.8 million pound in 2010-11 down by 15.4 million or 6.3% from 2009-10 peanut production of 244.2 million pounds. The harvested area is estimated at 88 thousand acres up by around 33% from previous year's 66 thousand acres while the peanut yields in North Carolina are projected to drop by around 30% from last year's 3700 pounds to 2600 pounds per acre in 2010-11.
South Carolina's Peanut production is estimated to increase by around 40% in 2010-11 due to greater increase in the harvested area and some improvement in the yield. The production is forecast at 208 million pound up by 59.2 million pound from last year's 148.8 million pound. The peanut yields in South Carolina are projected up by 3200 pounds per acre, an increase of over 100 pounds or 3.23%, from 3100 pounds in 2009-10 while the harvested area is estimated at 65 thousand acres up by around 35% from last year's 48 kt acres.
