The company’s recent quarterly report reviews the 720 top keywords and phrases consumers use to search for home, car and travel insurance.
During October 2010, there were a total of 1.7 million web searches for insurance related products. Of these, 51% were for car insurance. Travel insurance came second with 29% of searches, while home insurance was in third place with 20%.
According to Greenlight, searches for the term “home insurance” were relatively under-utilised during 2010, and the company expects an increase for web searches targeting this search phrase during 2011.
A total of 337 000 people searched for the term ‘home insurance’ during October last year. The term contents insurance accounted for 22,500 searches. Searchers also often used combinations of these terms, such as “home contents insurance” in their searches.
This is, of course, where the trick comes in for online insurance vendors. Targeting a very popular search term such as ‘car insurance’ also brings with it a lot of competitors. Consumers also very often use more exact phrases when they do a web search, such as ‘cheap car insurance’ or ‘affordable car insurance’.
They even misspell search terms or make grammar mistakes. Do not be surprised, therefore, if someone looking for car insurance for his old Morris Minor car uses the following search term: “afordable insrance for vry old Moris Minor.” For the latest updates PRESS CTR + D or visit Stock Market news Today
