Financial Services Authority’s FSA Mortgage Market Review 2011 : The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has today outlined proposals which focus on enhancing the mortgage sales process, the role of intermediaries and improving disclosure of information for customers.

The consultation builds on the FSA’s Mortgage Market Review to date, and a key element is requiring that those selling mortgages ensure that each one sold is ‘appropriate’ for the customer’s needs and circumstances, therefore clarifying the role of the mortgage seller (both intermediary and branch based).

FSA gets in dispute with its RDR qualifications partner

The dispute comes as the City regulator has written to the awarding bodies warning them not to divulge information to the press. The FSSC, which worked with the FSA on RDR standards, has warned in a comment note that the watchdog’s bullishness regarding qualifications may harm consumer access to advice. Read More...

Cost of regulation to rise 10% on last year: FSA

The sum will stand at £500.5m for 2011/2012, which is up 10.1 per cent from the £454.7m levy in the previous year.
