The 22 inch LCD TV also features, 720p display, four HDMI slots, built-in DVB Freeview, three USB slots, a SCART socket, PC input and an Ethernet port for online video playback. The PS2 function will only run in standard definition although it grants the console a new lease on life, after being considered by many to be obsolete following the release of the PlayStation 3.
According to The Register, this is the first attempt to build a games console into a TV since Sharp and Nintendo produced the C1NES in the early 1980s.
Rumours in 2008 suggested that Samsung and Microsoft were to produce an Xbox 360 integrated TV, although this never came to fruition. The Bravia KDL-22PX300 is available now and costs around £200 at only Richersounds. It is also bundled with a controller.
