The picture attached to this news shows students at a prayer event in Riyadh. The picture conform to the puritanical image of the country. But who knows, worldly pleasures are available behind closed doors to the very rich – including, and especially – to the royalties which many believe to be the direct descendants of the Prophet Mohammed
According to U.S. diplomatic cables leaked by Wikileaks, diplomats described how the monarchy’s official religious individuals – among them are royalties – involved in a world of “sex, drugs and alcohol”.
The cables recorded details told by U.S. officials from the Jeddah consulate about an exclusive Halloween party in which alcohol and prostitutes were readily available.
The party, attended by over 150 Saudi men and women mostly in their twenties and thirties, was organized by a member of the Saudi royalty, a wealthy prince from the Al Thunayan family. Protection of the kingdom means that the raid to the party from the religious police would be impossible. People who entered were controlled through a strict guest list.
The Halloween party hit all the taboo in the Islamic state. Liquor and prostitutes, adulteries were present in abundance behind the gate of the heavily guarded villa.
The document, signed by the U.S. consul in Jeddah Martin Quinn, also included information that, “Although not directly witnessed the incident, cocaine and hashishsh (marijuana) is used in general in such social environment”. However, the diplomat recommended the prince’s identity remain secret.
“Alcohol, though strictly prohibited by Saudi law and custom, was plentiful at the party’s well-stocked bar,” explained the cable. “The hired Filipino bartenders served a cocktail punch using sadiqi, a locally-made “moonshine”. It was also learned through word-of-mouth that a number of the guests were in fact prostitutes, not uncommon for such parties”.
“The scene resembled a nightclub anywhere outside the Kingdom: plentiful alcohol, young couples dancing, a DJ at the turntables, and everyone in costume,” the dispatch continued.
“Over the past few years, the increased conservatism of Saudi Arabia’s external society has pushed the nightlife and party scene in Jeddah even further underground,” said a prominent Saudi in the dispatch. For the latest updates PRESS CTR + D or visit Stock Market news Today
