NASA announcement about discovery of arsenic-based alien life forms

NASA announcement about discovery of arsenic-based alien life forms ; In a NASA announcement that has raised the hope of human beings around the world, there are arsenic based alien life forms that have been discovered in California. If you are hoping they are straight out of some sci-fi blockbuster, you’d be wrong. As Felisa Wolfe-Simon from NASA explains, “I can see you’re disappointed, that some of you were expecting walking, talking aliens”. But she also added, “Maybe we can find ET now because we have a better idea of what we’re looking for.”

For NASA, it is a big discovery, especially since arsenic is toxic and life till date was not expected to survive on it. The DNA of this alien microbe, as the NASA announcement explains is made of arsenic, rather than phosphorus. The discovery was made in the mud beneath a lake.

The NASA announcement comes as a signal breakthrough for scientists trying to curb water pollution as well, since if this microbe can be harvested and studied further, they can be used to remove arsenic from poisoned water. A lot of potable water in the world is rendered undrinkable because of arsenic poisoning.

This NASA announcement is probably the first of its kind that actually showcases life forms with which we don’t share the same DNA composition.
