Diana Ingerainen, a board member of the Estonian Association of Family Doctors, and several of her colleagues, told Eesti Päevaleht that more feedback from the Fund would be helpful. On the other hand, some physicians voiced concerns that monitoring the prices of prescribed medicines separately in each doctor's case could prompt doctors to prescribe cheap generic drugs instead of the ones that are most effective.
Also, the cost-saving measure might give rise to a system in which physicians could be ranked on a basis of the average prescription price, family doctors fear.
