Gold price hits record april 5 2011 : Gold hit a record high above $US1450 an ounce in trading here yesterday as the "safe haven" metal won support from worries over geopolitical unrest, surging oil prices and a Chinese rate hike, traders said.
The price of gold reached $US1450.65 an ounce at 1515 GMT (0115 AEST) on the London Bullion Market, beating the previous record of $US1447.82 set on March 24.
